The Dania Beach campus (SeaTech) is FAU's Institute for Ocean and Systems Engineering, located on eight acres between the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway in Dania Beach, Fla., with valuable access to the ocean and seawater. Its team of world-class faculty members, engineers, technicians and students are engaged in federally and industry-sponsored ocean engineering research and technology development in the areas of acoustics, marine vehicles, hydrodynamics and physical oceanography, marine materials and nanocomposites.

Nova Southeastern University Oceanographic Center

Students, faculty and staff come to the Oceanographic Center from many parts of the world to pursue research in biological and physical oceanography. Areas of interest include modeling of large scale ocean circulation, coastal dynamics, ocean atmosphere coupling, coral reel studies, benthic ecology, marine biodiversity, calcification of invertebrates, marine fisheries, marine microbiology, molecular ecology and evolution, and wetlands ecology. Integral components of the Oceanographic Center include the National Coral Reef Institute (research and training on coral reef assessment, monitoring and restoration), and the Guy Harvey Research Institute (fish research on and conservation). The William Springer Richardson Library is a research-oriented library for all the disciplines of marine and aquatic science.

American Maritime Officers S.T.A.R. Center

STAR Center is a not-for-profit maritime training school that is the top choice of inland- and ocean-going professional mariners throughout the world. Opening in 1983 in our Toledo, Ohio location, we expanded to our current location in Dania Beach, Florida (just south of Fort Lauderdale) in 1986, consolidating all training there in October 2008. After extensive facility improvements, we opened for business with the world's first 360° field-of-view Full Mission bridge simulator, and a second 247° (recently upgraded to 270°) field of view bridge simulator, in 1993. We now offer more U.S. Coast Guard and other approved courses than any simulation training center.
